X-Men get Frozen

Hey people! Let me tell you a story...

"Once upon a time there was a fashion illustrator named Obinna who lived in Lagos, Nigeria. He had a lot of nephews but he spent most time with two in particular; Ani & Akan. The boys loved to play and draw with their uncle but attimes he had to do some serious work and he sent them off to play with each other, which made them unhappy.

One day while trying to keep them busy so that he could sketch out some illustrations he played them a dvd about enchanted royal sisters and since then they were never unhappy when their uncle had to work again. In no time the boys learnt to sing 'Let It Go'; a soundtrack off the animation and everyone lived happily ever after..."

Since I get a lot of ideas off cartoons and translate them into other things I thought 'what if Marvel's X-Men starred in Disney's Frozen?' Well I guess this is what they would look like...

Iceman (Bobby Drake) as Kristoff
The White Queen (Emma Frost) as Queen Elsa
Gambit (Remy Lebeau) as Prince Hans
Rogue (Anna Marie) as Princess Anna

So let me know what was your favourite childhood cartoon character and I just might restyle them!

Have a lovely weekend.
Stay Haute,
Sir Binna.

Farewell Joan Rivers

Hey people!

Its good to be here again although this time its on a sad note. On thursday the 4th of September, the good people of the E! Fashion Police show broke the news of the death of the chief host, Joan Rivers.  I'm rarely phased by the death of celebrity personalities but Joan's passing really got to me, maybe its the love & humor of fashion we share. I'll miss you as my weekly dose of Fashion Police. You are irreplaceable! Farewell Joan! ♡♡♡

I would like to use this opportunity to really appreciate all of you (family, friends and readers alike) for taking out time to read, comment and share. I would also like to charge you to take your life's bull by the horns and truly LIVE enjoying what you do and ready to stand by the consequences of your decisions like Joan did! Here's an illustration I did in respect to the style icon.

As for me I ThankGod for helping me survive NYSC orientation camp! I got to meet a variety of interesting people too. Although at times it could be stressful and annoying, most times its actually fun. Anyways I hope to resume work soonest (fingers crossed) and really start adventuring around town so wish me luck!!

Stay Haute,
Sir Binna.

Colored Girls Collection

Hello ladies and gents!

It has been ages and no I haven't quit blogging yet. I thank God I've actually been working on orders by various clients.  Trust me taking it from a hobby to a part time job is no joke but for God's grace.

Here is a little wall art collection I finished recently while trying my hands on the silhouette technique. I LOVE it! It was inspired by the Tyler Perry movie 'For Colored Girls' and the Chibok Girl students still in captivity. I pray everyday for their release. I'm going to be using this technique for custom portraits orders which I belive everyone should have a piece of.

In other news I'm going to be enrolled in the National Youth Service program soon so stay tuned for awesome art and pictures from adventures inspired by my beloved country. Well wishes and prayers are highly appreciated. I love you all who take a bit out of time to check out my blog. God bless you all!

The Emerald Country of Nigeria

Hello beautiful people!

It is the 30th of September (as I write this post) and while having my evening read of Chude Jideonwo's 'Are We The Turning Point Generation?' I realise its Nigeria's 54th Independence Day tomorrow. At this point my mind wanders into a comparison of two lands in their quest for prosperity at all social levels.

On one hand, most people would know the story of the 'Wizard of Oz' and like most fables it carries a real-life scenario into fantasy. On the other hand, Nigeria, though a land full of opportunities, suffers plagues of violence, manipulations and corruption just like the Emerald City of Oz. All these can also be attributed to the antagonist of the Oz story; the Wicked Witch of the West.

But back to real life, at what point would Nigeria truly transform and take its place in the world? No one can certainly say but we must do what we can to aid the transformation we seek. I hope I'm not sounding like a broken record but I'd close with a saying from an apostle of change in Nigeria; Chude Jideonwo...

"We should not let what should be stop us from achieving what can be"

Happy Independence Day Nigeria!!

Now in other non-partisan talk, my look here is simply a play at 50 shades of grey but with a hint of emerald green just to be a little patriotic! Lol

What ways are you inkorporating green to your outfits?

Stay Haute,
Sir Binna.

30 Must-Do’s While You’re Young Enough to Read This

I came across this recently and thought I'd share. The write up is culled from Marc Chernoff of MARC AND ANGEL HACK LIFE & was inspired after a blog reader was diagnosed with cancer and she realized she hadn't taken time out to LIVE. We don't need to have a near death experience before we realize there's more to life than the daily hustle and bustle of Lagos & Nigeria.
So let’s wake up!  ALL OF US!  If you can read this, it’s not too late.  Make today the beginning of your second chance at life.  Take time to figure yourself out.  Take time to realize what you want and need.  Take time to take risks.  Take time to love, laugh, cry, and learn.  Life is shorter than it often seems.  Here are 30 must-do’s you can start working on today:
  1. Accept every unique piece of yourself. – The secret to happiness and success is the acceptance of yourself.  You will never become who you want to be if you rely on everyone else to qualify you.  Own yourself completely, just the way you are, flaws and all.  Once you love and accept even the worst possible version of yourself, you are free.  So always go with yourself, never against yourself.  Be who you were created to be and you will set the world on fire.
  2. Make yourself a priority. – Truth be told, there are only a few people in this world who will stay 100% true to you, and YOU should be one of them.  Prioritize your own needs into your daily to-do’s.
  3. Take positive action. – Don’t sit back and let things happen to you.  Go out and happen to things.  You are what you do, not what you say you’ll do.  Stop saying “I wish” and start saying “I will.”  Turn your cant’s into cans and your dreams into plans.

S P E C T R U M

Hey folks! How's the week going?
It has been saddening listening to the news and hearing news of death all in the name of seeking employment in Nigeria! We need to keep praying and working to the betterment of our dear country. Don't think your idea or dreams are too little because you'd grow and employ different people. That way you might just be saving lives!!

One of them is the opportunity to be on the production team of the Hse of Nwocha Show tagged "Cocoon." Wondering "why cocoon?" We'd get back to that...
